The Park Tool CC-3.2 chain wear indicator is a tool used to determine the point at which your chain has reached the 0.5% and 0.75% wear (stretch) point. This point is when most chain manufacturers recommend replacement. Regularly checking the "stretch" of your chain ensures you are not causing excessive wear to your derailleur, rear cogs and that your shifting is working optimally. The CC-3.2 works for chains that are 5-12 speed. For 5-10 speed chains, it is recommended that you replace your chain at or before the 0.75% point. For 11-12 speed chains, replace at or just before 0.5%.
